Greetings from Sapporo!

Here are photos from the past week. Michelle and I have been snowboarding in Niseko, Hokkaido. It was the best snowboarding ever! Now we are in Sapporo for the Sapporo Snow Festival! My daily photos should be posted on schedule from now on (but sorry if I’m late!), followed by more pictures from our trip!

Hey everyone!

Sorry for the very very late posts of my pictures. For the past couple of weeks, Michelle and I have been trying to fight off the flu. Fortunately for us, we never got the flu but… Michelle did get a cold and has a sore throat. She did get better before she went on a business trip last weekend but it got really cold and windy and she got sick again. That’s ok because I am here to take care of her!  It is always fun taking care of Michelle when she is sick.

But now on to my photos! Last week Michelle had a business trip on the mainland. We decided to go together and have some fun, eat some food and explore Matsue. It was a blast and I am really excited to go on our next adventure! Which is going to start this coming Saturday!

We are going to Hokkaido to see the Sapporo Snow Festival! This is an event that is held every year in Sapporo, where they make giant snow castles and sculptures. We have been wanting to go to the snow festival for the past two years and we are finally able to! Check back next week for pictures from Sapporo!

Yesterday, Michelle had to go to Nishinoshima (a neighboring island) to teach at the junior high school over there, so we decided to have a date night after her work. This doesn’t get to happen very often because we usually have tennis on Thursday nights. But since it’s winter and tooooo darn cold in the gym, tennis practices have been canceled until the weather starts to warm up.

This picture was taken after we got off the boat on our way back home from dinner. This is a long exposure of the boat leaving Chibu’s port. When I first took the picture and looked at it on the back of the camera, the right side of the picture was over exposed and I felt like the light trail didn’t look as cool as I hoped for. We walked home from the port trying to find another picture I could take. We tried some more long exposures but none of them came out how I wanted. When we got home, I popped my memory card into the computer and loaded the image. I sat and thought about how I could make the picture better, fiddled around with the exposure and some brushes in Lightroom, then BOOM! Here’s the picture I came up with:
